Change in Blog Location

Dear blog followers,

As you know, I haven’t kept up with this blog like I should. It takes time to sit down and write something and I just haven’t been taking the time to write lately. But seeing that there are so many wonderful resources online which promote biblical truth, I have started another blog over at blogspot, which is aimed at being an outpost for the writings and resources of others as well as myself, that I may share some of these great treasures and teachings with the Body of Christ. The new blog has an emphases on the Gospel, biblical missions, evangelism, and theology. It will contain audios, videos, and writings from both myself and others, both past and present. Be sure to bookmark the change.

Here it is:

God’s Free Mercies -Thomas Brooks

“His tender mercies.” Psalm 145:9

“The multitude of His mercies.” Psalm 106:45

It is God’s free mercy which every day
keeps hell and my soul asunder.

It is God’s free mercy which daily pardons my sins.

It is God’s free mercy which supplies all my inward
and outward needs.

It is God’s free mercy which preserves, and feeds,
and clothes my outward man.

It is God’s free mercy which renews, strengthens,
and prospers my inward man.

It is God’s free mercy which has kept me many
times from committing such and such sins.

It is God’s free mercy which has kept me many a
time from falling before such and such temptations.

It is God’s free mercy which has many a time
preserved me from being swallowed up by
such and such inward and outward afflictions.

“Great are Your tender mercies, O Lord.” Psalm 119:156

“I will sing of the tender mercies of the Lord forever!”
Psalm 89:1

The Conclusion… All else is vanity

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. (Ecc 12:13-14)

This is all that matters. ALL else is vanity. Prophecies will pass away, tongues will cease, but the everlasting love of God that is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which causes us to love and obey our Maker will never pass away. Love never fails. It is the fulfillment of the Law. And if we truly love Christ, we will keep His commandments.

Let us listen to the words of the Preacher who wrote us such words of wisdom. He sought pleasure and fulfillment in all other things -in knowledge and learning, in women, in riches, in fame, in pleasure, and in labor. He exhausted the fountains of the world’s pleasures to the very end so as to exhaust them to the very end, and in the end, he found that they were vanity, vanity, vanity. After an entire lifetime of seeking fulfillment in every thing this life has to offer, and that to the fullest, he came to a simple, yet piercing conclusion. FEAR GOD AND KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS.

That’s it. What more can we add to that? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and let your faith manifest itself in God-fearing works done in love with a motive to His glory. There is a Judgment coming. And we are nothing but fools if we don’t prepare for that great Day.

Let us live every day in the light of the Judgment Seat of Christ, as the Apostle Paul did:

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.(2 Cor 5:8-11)

Paul lived in the light of eternity. He had the word “Bema” stamped across the backs of his eyelids. He knew what he was preparing for. He was preparing to meet His God. Every day was a day of preparation to depart from this world and enter the next. Every day was a day of heart-preparation to stand before God with a clean conscience, washed and made white in the blood of the Lamb.

What else is there to do? We can laugh, cry, sing, moan, rejoice, weep, feast, fast, enjoy our friends and family, or enjoy solitude and peace, but in the end, it’s all vanity. All that matters is if we knew Jesus Christ, had His eternal love in our hearts, walked after Him with a living faith, and labored to please God in our lives. Dear reader, where’s your priorities?

I am dealing with the death of a loved one in my family right now. I do not know where he went and can have no assurance on his behalf, but I know the Judge of all the earth will do right. But he’s gone and there’s nothing I can do about it now. But all I can think of is the salvation of the rest of those in my family. That’s all that matters to me. That they fear God and keep His commandments. I’m not trying to be theological with this verse, just stating the plain truth of Scripture. Yes salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. But in the end all that matters beyond that is if we obeyed God. To obey is better than sacrifice.

It’s hard for me to be away right now all the way over here in Mexico while my family are over there grieving, but I find strength in the Word of God. In the end, Christ says to me, “Let the dead bury their dead. You go and preach the Kingdom of God”. Oh, it hurts so much inside, but His grace is sufficient… Yes, Lord Jesus! I will gladly obey your will. But please, save my family, I beg You. Yet I delight to do Thy will, O God, and love Thee more than I love my nearest kin. Your Word is my treasure, like a sword to my heart but like sweet honey to my mouth. Your face is too aweful to behold yet the rays of light that shine round about your glory are the light of my spirit, for You alone, Lord Jesus, are the light of men. Your holiness frightens me but your love consoles me, and I am in awe of your ways. What God is there, as mighty as You, who breathes the breath of life into the nostrils of man, and who takes away the breath of life whenever it pleases You? For all things are of You and through You and to You, and to You alone be the glory forever, O mighty King that reigns over mortals in glorious power and sovereignty.

You give and take away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Help your people to win souls while there’s still souls here to win, for I know the Lord of hosts will make a quick work upon the earth. Even so, come Lord Jesus!
